January was a great month for me. I profited a lot from both HUsngs and cash games and a little sports betting haha thanks primo! I earned 193k vpps so far this year, and have been playing a lot of high stakes. I feel that as my bankroll has grown, I have become more comfortable with the high stakes games and do not stress when i lose a couple. 5ks still sting a lot, but 2ks and 1ks are limits I can handle.
This post has a very different tone from some posts I made in December. How quickly things can change in this game. In December I wanted to grind only 230-570s. One day in Prague I decided to sit a 1k, and I'm really glad I did because I have had some huge months since then. I am still being cautious because I know how deadly downswings can be, but I am definitely taking more risks by open sitting high stakes.
I'm also a lot happier with my life outside of poker. I have started working out daily and eating a lot healthier, and can see results already. It was a little disappointing to get big in college because I was so skinny by the end of high school and through my first two years of college. I feel like I am getting back to my glory days now, and I have the right mindset.
I have some really busy and fun things planned for the upcoming months. I'm going to go visit Primo and my cousin in Austin with Jayluf and we are going to try to go to the Superbowl next weekend. BLACK AND YELLOW.
Also, I'm planning to go to Copenhagen at the end of Feb for an EPT and stay with DiBasio most likely. In march I plan to go to Mardi Gras with some college friends and some poker guys also. After that I'm going to Panama City with some other friends, up to DC on March 12th for my sisters birthday, and then finally St. Patricks day in Boston with other college friends. I'm really excited for all these, so lets see how much poker I can get in and If i can make it to everything
Poker goals for Feb are 100k vpps and 40k profit before rakeback. I also have started dabbling in the superturbos on FTP and they seem really soft so I might be playing more of those while waiting for games on stars.
Shout out to PompYouUp who took down the Borgata 350 for 25k and the 1k HU at PCA for 23kish! congrats bro..
Thanks for reading, GL

PCA
PCA was a ton of fun. I met most of the other sicko HU regs and we had a blast. I went 0-4 in events busting the 10k main, 5k HU 5k bounty shootout and 1k HU. Luckily my trip was salvaged by "Scottybcash" when i had 20% of him in the bounty shootout. He cashed for 73k, and lost on a sick suckout, but it definitely got me close to even on the trip. I met so many regs, too many to name. Pretty much everyone whos anyone was there with a few exceptions. I cant wait until the wsop to see everyone again.
Online has been treating me well as of late. Husngs have gone in my favor so far this year (with the exception of today) but I am still being carful because i know how sick downswings can be. Currently first on the ss leaderboard only 18 days in which doesnt mean much, but i hope its a sign of good things to come and hope to maintain the winning streak
I was planning on going to biloxi after pca and then maybe borgata, but I might just take a break from live events and just stay in Atlanta. I miss my freinds at home and I havent really "lived" there much in the past 6 months because of traveling. I'm really gonna try to get into a routine of eating healthy, working out and getting back to a normal lifestyle.
My next stop will probably be EPT copenhagen at the end of February and then we will see what else comes up.

2011
2011 has treated me well so far. Currently I am first on the Pokerstars leaderboard for heads up with 62k in total profits from HUsngs. Unfortunately, I am down about 30k in cash games so its not as glamorous as it sounds. Add another -6k from sports betting and PCA entries, and I'm hardly up on the year. How did Arkansas blow that game so many times? Last bet of the college football year will be on Auburn -2.5, so even though i hate to say it as a Bulldog fan, Go Tigers!
I will be heading to PCA tomorrow and am registered for the 10k main, 5k HU, 2k Battleship, 1k HU and will probably play some other events. I want to go there to have fun and am bringing my family (a nice little vacation for them) not to be stuck inside in paradise playing poker all day.
Will be interesting to meet all the big internet names, will post updates from PCA.

Prague epic run good, great times and back in the US
Been awhile since i updated the blog, so heres what i've been up to since then....
I'm glad pokerstars didnt let me unregister from the prague package and made me go. I had a great time there and met up with a lot of other regs from a variety of games. When I first arrived I met up with Palinca (from 2p2) and we instantly became freinds. We went out to a few bars that night and hung out pretty much all trip. I also met up with some sicko cash players, justforfunds and wpr101. Also met up with sick mtt players like breakribs and uhhmee. I told Matt Afleck my sn was pistons87, and this guy next to him yelled out "ftpballerstatus" (my ftp sn). He ended up being riycc225 and I met him also. Although the food was terrible, the nightlife and poker atmosphere in prague made it all worth while.
The first couple days I was there I hardly played online, and only saw my bankroll dwindle from buying into live events in the EPT side events. I made it to day 2 of the main event with 20 BB, but lost 3 mins in when my AJ<QQ. I was amazed at the level of play at this EPT. Compared to LA, the field was ridiculously bad. I noticed 5-6 fish per table while in LA it was about 8 either live pros or young internet kids and (maybe) one fish. I met and talked to Matt Afleck who agreed that the EPT was pretty much the softest feild ever, and have made plans to go back to as many as we can.
The next day I busted the main event was the 3.2k euro heads up event (which i bought in online). I won my first round vs a total fish who would blind raise and was obviously there just to donate. The second round I drew a kid from california who played probably the most tilting style of poker ever. He would literally time down every hand, and take at least 1 minute per decision even preflop! It was ridiculous and I wanted to call the floor but I didnt really have much of an argument. Anyway, he was horrible when the blinds got high at push/fold and he sucked out a bunch and ended up beating me.
After this I decided not to play any more events or live cash. I turned my focust to just having a good time, experiencing the culture and playing online. As predicted, I played higher than 550s and had to pay out the $200 bounty to old time gin who called me out about 11 seconds after I was in the 1k lobby. I'm glad I did this however, because I hit an epic heater. Finally running close to expectation in november and december! (and maybe a little above). I made about 30k the first night was really grinding online (played all night obv) and the next afternoon I made another 15k. This was really big for me because August-mid november was really depressing with no profits and just grinding away for rakeback.
We went out the night after i made all this money and met up with some people that palinca knew through couchsurfing.com. I had never heard of this website but its awesome. Random people just meet up in random cities. Anyway, we got to know some girls pretty well there that were teaching english temporarily. One was from Jersey and one from the UK. They were awesome and basically gave us a chance to tour the city because they knew where everything was already. We went to a Beatles museum, walked over charles bridge, and one of the girls ended up working for the bar crawl so we went on this one night. This was an awesome experience, and we met up a lot of people from different places like australia, scotland, chile etc. It was a really different experience than being in the US in terms of strangers meeting eachother and hanging out randomly which was cool.
I kept my heater going when I got back into the states, and finished with a really nice December. I just took a family trip to Biloxi, MS for a few days and played some live FR cash 1/2and 2/5 which didnt go so well. Its hard to adjust from playing 1k cap nl and 1k husngs to grinding 30 hands an hour with a 500-1.5k stack. I ended up losing around 3500.
Plans for new years are in ATL with college freinds, and then off to PCA on Jan 7th. I'm currently working out some numbers and will be selling some of my main event, so if you are interested you can contact me via AIM or MSN

Looking forward to meeting a lot of regs up there and taking down the main...

My career as a poker player, Beggining till now, SUPER LONG TLDR ETC
I got a recent request from a follower to post my story of how i got to where I am today. I have made a lot of mistakes in the past, but the best way to utilize these is to learn from them.
I was introduced to poker by a friend of mine from high school. He taught me the basic rules of No Limit Texas Holdem and I soon became addicted and intrigued with the game. We would play with whatever change we could find at his house usually on weekday nights. He set up a tournament a few months after we started, and another friend of mine won it who barley knew the rules of the game. (luck game obv). I think my junior year of high school I went to a kid's house where a 'big game' was being held. $50 buy in to a .25 .50 cent game. I was scared to death when i bought in, and lost my money real quick when i went all in with QQ and got snapped off by Aces. Although I was not what you would consider poor growing up, my parents definitely watched my spending and restricted me with money. I would continue to scrounge up money and play the 5-10 dollar buy ins for fun, never really getting anywhere, but getting more intrigued with the game.
I deposited my first time online the summer after my freshman year of college (2006). Like most other players, i started with a small deposit of $50. My roommate at the time was also interested, so we decided to split the money and see what kind of damage we could do. We lost it that night. I of course deposited 50 more, lost, rinse and repeat. A few months later i deposited $25 and somehow ran it up to 2k on party poker playing up to 1/2nl. I lost it the next day, but instantly saw light in the game. There were some sickos living in Athens where I went to college (Univ of Georgia). Yellowsub86 was one of them, and they lived in the same apartment complex as me. I would constantly give them 1-200 cash for money online and lose it all the time. One time i managed to run 100--->10k playing 6 max cash and some heads up and managed to cash out enough to buy a new Plasma TV and ipods for my girlfreind at the time and myself. Life was good, I felt like such a baller. Went broke a few weeks later.
During my junior year, I deposited some more money (obv busto throughout most of college) and somehow ran my roll up to 100k playing mostly 6 max cash, and heads up cash. I was so excited. I decided to be responsible with this sum of money so I told my dad about it and he helped me cash most of it out. I left myself with 20k online and thought no problem I can run this up. I was busto a couple days later, and didnt want to ask my dad for any more money. I ended up getting some stakes on which i went busto with a few weeks later and quit poker.
I got a job in Myrtle Beach after graduation working in real estate. It was a good job, in a nice place, but I hated it mainly because there were no kids my age living there. I came back to visit Atlanta, and realized how much i missed my freinds/gf etc, so I moved back after talking to an entrepreneur and got a job shadowing him (no pay). After 6 months of shadowing him and basically getting nowhere (although he himself was brilliant) I got some more stakes online soon after. I ended up breaking even for a while and eventually lost. In Decemeber, I managed to scrap together 400 of my own to deposit online. I played 25c 50c cash and worked it up to a few k, then parlayed it at 50c/1 and had a huge end of the month at 1/2.
In January of this year with about a 12k roll, I decided to mess around in some HUsngs, the 115 turbo 4 mans while I was waiting for cash action. I started crushing the regs very quickly at this level, even with all the leaks in my game. I talked to dl184, and he said i'd eventually become a husng reg, i told him he was NUTS! I started playing more and more games as i was crushing, and had a 30k month in january, not to mention all the vpps and fpps I accumulated. I played a ton and kept moving up the husng ladder, and in April I found myself playing 5ks. I had an upswing at high stakes for a while, then a big downswing, and it would go back and forth. I decided to go to the WSOP for some live events this year ( never played live before) and went 0-5. I took 2 trips to vegas, one by myself and one with my gf at the time. Each time i blew about 30k. It was a huge setback to my goals and my roll. I hope to be more responsible this time around. I got SNE in July 10 and a lot of my profit has come from that, mainly because of my lack of discipline in playing high stakes games. I got some perspective talking to Iftarii, when he told me even the best regs vs the worst players will only win 65/100 games. Recently I have also been inspired by mid stakes grinders like Treezer, Fishenzon, Plauzee, Carryhero, Madamadadonk, Dibasio Old Time Gin and so on, who have grinded consistent profits this year.
I made a lot of mistakes, this year, including flipping massive amounts, sports betting, buying action and staking. Mostly just got caught up in upswings and didnt really make good decisions. I hope that next year I can become a more consistent grinder at the mid stakes, because I know I am one of the top regs at 1k down. (evident by the fact that regs sit me rarely). Not to sound cocky, but I think that if i stick to mid stakes next year, and do +ev things, I can be one of the top online grinders for heads up. At this point, its more about money and where I am in my life rather than beating a reg in a war or beating a certain level. $ in the bank is going to do a lot more for my future goals of starting a business or opening a hotel than my ego ever will, and thats why my attempt for 2011 is to put it aside.
Wow this post was ridiculously long
Going to Prague on Thursday, looking forward to having a great time and hopefully doing well in the live events there.

mid stakes grind and new motivation in life
Recently I put a bounty on myself for the month of December. If you see me playing higher than a 570 husng, you get $200 if you are the first one to post it on the husng regs thread on 2p2. I know 200 isnt a lot, but i think its more of a motivation thing for me to stay in line, I'd hate to give away $200 for free, that would be sick rake for playing a 1k haha.
I've got some inspiration recently from 'treezer' to grind the mid stakes and just take shots at high stakes when the game is super +ev. Back in January, 'Plauzee, Siervos, Treezer and I were all playing low stakes and all came up the levels together. In march-april, we were all playing the highest stakes games. Treezer i guess had enough of the variance and moved back to grinding lower stakes (230-570) while I was still swinging at high stakes. Well, he was right, the grind at 570 and lower is so much less stressful and easier money because 95% of the times you play fish, instead of trying to 'catch' them at higher stakes.
His graph is prove of his success compared to mine this year, as I could have easily imitated what he accomplished because i feel our skill level is similar. It will be my goal next year to beat this sick graph. If you want to see it, just sharkscope treezer on pokerstars.
The most annoying thing about mid stakes is having to fight for lobbies with other regs. When i join a game and another solid reg insta joins- we usually end up chopping. A waste of time, money and rake, but worth it in the end. I have a lot more respect for a lot of regs on stars these days especially at the 345-570 level. I rarely join regs at these levels because either A. they are just as solid, B. will start an unnecessary war or C. I became friends with them a long time ago. I will still join regs who i think i have an edge on, but mostly just to get the next open lobby.
Wanna give a shout out to mjw006- keep grinding buddy, you can get SNE next year!
Madamadadonk- if u make SNE at 50's next year you will go down in history as the all time greatest grinder
Howgood2good- saw u at the 100s the other day, dont get too crazy on us now

Goals for December 2011
I had a great November, and im ready to have another solid month in December.
I need about 150k vpps in december to reach my 1.75 mil goal and get a 10k bonus. This will not be easy at all as i usually dont reach 150k in a month.
I won an EPT Prague package recently for about 7k euros from a 20k fpp qualifier put on by pokerstars with one seat added. I was initially going to play but now im not sure because the avg temp is 10 degrees F there and I'm not sure how fun the nightlife will be when its so cold. I usually like to experience the city I'm traveling (not just poker) so i might try to go to a different and warmer event. Still waiting to hear back from pokerstars about whether or not I can get T$ or roll the package over.
Overally I had a sick november which included my NAPT LA score.
In December I plan to put in a lot more volume in at mid stakes (230-570). Everyone has similar VPP goals so i think I will have to play through more regs this month. I dont mind playing regs at these levels besides a few because I feel I have an edge. There are some regs that I will never play so i will have to share the lobbies and try to put in a lot of volume which includes waiting time for lobbies.
Im also going to play some sunday mtts again (sigh) and try to bink something huge. Hate MTTs!
Hope to put together a 30k month in December in pure profit.
Congrats to OLD TIME GIN for winning the Sunday 500 for 91k!
